Friday, May 8th: Leave FRANK TALK bus barn at 8:00 am. Lunch OYO along the way and dinner at a Cracker Barrel (included). We’ll be spending the night at the Fairfield by Marriott in Frederick, MD. Full breakfast included at the Fairfield.
Saturday May 9th: Check into your Oceanfront Hotel. (Free evening to stroll the Boardwalk and dinner on your own). An add-ed bonus is the gigantic classic car show happening on the board-walk in front of your hotel!
Sunday May 10th: a step on guide will take our group on a tour that will include the oceanfront north to Fort Story, you’ll visit the Cape Henry lighthouses and the site of the First Landing of perma-nent European settlers. We’ll take some time for lunch OYO at one of the large number of appealing restaurants. We will also factor in a look at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel (giving you an addi-tional perspective from what you would have seen from the cruise ship) and share the story of Grace Sherwood, the much-maligned (and altogether innocent) “Witch of Pungo”. Time permitting, we’ll take a quick look at Naval Air Station Oceana, the Master Jet Base for East Coast Navy squadrons and home to a very appealing stat-ic display of Navy aircraft through the ages.
Monday May 11: This will be your “free day”. A day to enjoy your surroundings, take a dip in the pool, enjoy the boardwalk.
Tuesday May 12: Visit the location where the 700 club at The Christian Broadcasting Network is taped, tour the studio and have lunch at the beautiful Founders Inn (next door) This is a great buf-fet lunch (included). Next we’ll visit the Military Aviation Museum- This is the largest collection of flyable WWI and WWII planes in the world.
Wednesday May 13: we’ll visit and tour the Outer Banks in North Carolina. Details to be announced late
Friday May 15: Pick up Cruise travelers at the Carnival Sunrise dock. Head home with an included dinner at the Drury hotel, near the airport in Pittsburgh, PA and an overnight stay. A great break-fast at the Drury the next morning before embarking on the final leg of our journey..
Saturday, May 16: Arrive back at the FRANK TALK bus barn.
